Mentors are volunteers who are motivated to share knowledge and develop a friendship with their mentee.
They have a genuine interest in the personal development of young people and a willingness to spend several hours every week or fortnight with the young person they are working with.
In return, mentors receive training; individual and peer support.
All The Helping Hand Project mentors are required to have the following:
1. Working with Children check
2. Police check
Mentors will also be required to attend a bi-monthly mentor meeting.
A commitment of at least 12 months is required to foster a partnership between mentor and mentee.
For more information on becoming a mentor with The Helping Hand Project, please phone (03) 9376 9088.
